Billy Soco is an AAPI Latino actor, improv teacher and voice artist based in NYC. He has trained and performed with renowned comedy institutions like the Magnet Theater, Upright Citizens Brigade, The Second City, and Freestyle+ and performs with critically acclaimed ensembles including The Armando Diaz Experience, Baby Wants Candy, Shamilton, ComedySportz, North Coast, SaltPepperKetchup, and is a proud Story Pirate. He performs and teaches improv around the world and is the artistic director for Megawatt, the house team program at Magnet Theater where he also teaches. He is also on the teaching faculty with The Second City Conservatory.
Billy grew up in Florida as a first-generation child of immigrants. In high school, he played the role of Mr. Welch in Damn Yankees and really enjoyed putting on “old man” makeup. He earned an English degree at the University of Florida, wrote and performed poetry at open mics, and began booking and promoting shows so he could rap his heart out on stages in the name of self-expression.
He previously earned a living stocking grocery shelves, showing apartments, and selling compact discs. Billy has built a thoughtfully non-linear career, blending his leadership experience in healthcare administration supporting patients and families with his performance background in his work as an artistic director, management professional and corporate workshop facilitator.
Billy has experience losing 100 pounds in body weight so give him time and he’ll find a way to bring it up. Standing 6’3” tall and being of Chilean & Filipino descent, the origin of his height remains a mystery. He is however famously known to be both a goofy godfather and the coolest uncle.
